The Poetics and Pragmatics of Motherhood

A Cross-Cultural Analysis of Mother Love. This discussion of motherhood looks at the formation of the idea of the “natural motherhood” and how meaning varies across cultural contexts. Motherhood is understood according to economic and sociopolitical factors. I will also argue that Mother Love is a limited resource that must often be rationed.
