New Release Puts Evolutionary Spin on Fantasy; Book by Bruce Rowe

San Marcos, CA (PRWEB) February 14, 2012

A sign in the heavens revealing the start of a long-forgotten prophecy sets the stage for an adventure that features primordial rabbits known as lagomorphs. In this imaginative new story, six lagomorphs each with different skills must travel into Black Wood, a forest filled with evil and bewitchments, to find the Warren of Warriors and other allies. This group of feral rabbits has pledged to fight to preserve the freedom of their species until the Chrysalis arrives an event that will change their world forever.

In The Chrysalis Creatures of the Highlands, the author draws on Celtic myths and legends, as well as the Gita, the Bible and evolutionary theories to create a fantastical tale that features rabbits strong enough to kill wolves. Illustrations by artist Lindsay Stone bring the setting and its inhabitants, including night flyers, ferocious wolves, enormous toads and flying squirrels, to life. During their quest, the warriors gain unexpected allies, such as the giant dragonflies who provide assistance to repay a debt. In the end, however, the rabbit warriors must rely on each other to find the courage to fight their final battle.

Author Bruce Rowe spent four years researching and writing The Chrysalis: Creatures of the Highlands, traversing the terrain from southern California to Oregon. Rowe has written poetry and childrens poems, some of which are posted at He and his wife, Donna, live in southern California.
