Do you write poetry for others to read or just for yourself?

If you write poetry do you write it with the hope or intention of having others read it? Or do you write poetry simply as a form of self expression without the need or desire to have anyone ever see it?
Explain why.

Well, mostly I write for myself because I’m not confident enough to share my poems publicly, but I do enjoy it when someone gets what I am saying. However, I am working on gaining the nerve to share my thoughts and I just posted one an hour or so ago. I don’t need people to read my poems, but can be fun especially if they like them or can relate.

    Sometimes both.

It all depends on how i’m feeling, If i just want to express the way i feel about a certain subject, then only I want to read it. But if um writing about something general, i can let ppl read them
